The 3.5 times of Daniel chapter 12 differs from other 3.5 references.
While some translations simply render the Hebrew as "a time, times,
and half a time", the actual Hebrew states;
Dan 12:7 ... for appointed, appointeds, and half ...
The Hebrew, Strong's reference H4150 - 'mowed', carries the notion
of a festival, an assembly convened for a definite purpose.
The page below mentions the seven appointed annual holy days
and discusses their symbolic meanings.

Of these days, the following final four were all observed in the
seventh month of the year.
- Day of Trumpets (1st day)
- Day of Atonement (10th day)
- first day of the Feast of Tabernacles (15th day)
- Last Day (22nd day)
These days symbolically represent events occurring at the 'end-time'.
Hence, if we apply the 3.5 appointed times of Daniel 12:7 to these
four appointed days, we will reach the midpoint of the fourth day.

[ NB: While common opinion is that biblical days started and ended
at sunset; the view presented within this website is that this
timing is incorrect. This website teaches that an in-depth study
of this topic actually reveals that biblical days begin and
end at midnight. Hence, a 'half day' would finish at midday. ]
Is there any biblical reference to any major 'end-time' event which
occurs at midday?
Amos 8:9 And it shall come to pass in that day, says
the Lord God,
That I will make the sun go down at noon,
And I will darken the earth in broad daylight;
Jer 15:8 ... A plunderer at noonday;
I will cause anguish and terror to fall on
them suddenly.
:9 She languishes who has borne seven;
She has breathed her last;
Her sun has gone down while it was yet day;
Psa 91:5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
:6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
These verses speak of the demise of the church which has borne seven.
It reminds one of the symbolic 7,000 which die after the two witnesses
are raised to life. Just before the establishment of the Kingdom of
God.
Rev 11:13 In the same hour there was a great earthquake, ...
In the earthquake seven thousand men were killed,
and the rest were afraid and gave glory to the God
of heaven.
Also reminds us that the seven churches of Revelation are warned
that if they do not repent they will have their lampstands taken
from them.
Rev 2:5 ... repent ... or else I will come to you
quickly and remove your lampstand from its
place ...
3:3 ... if you will not watch, I will come upon
you as a thief, ...
[ NB: For some of the seven churches the warning given is stated
forcefully and for others it is merely implied by the comment
"He who has an ear, let him hear what the spirit says to
the churches". ]
What is important to note is that the period of 3.5 appointeds differs
from the several other symbolic references to '3.5 times'.
These other '3.5 times' references being;
A) The symbolized duration of the end-time little horn.
Dan 7:25 ... For a time and times and half a time.
B) The symbolized period of protection of the woman.
Rev 12:14 ... where she is nourished for a time and times
and half a time, from the presence of the
serpent.
C) The symbolized period when the two witnesses are dead.
Rev 11:9 ... and nations will see their dead bodies
three and a half days ...
11:11 Now after the three and a half days the breath
of life from God entered them, ...
D) The 2nd half of the Daniel 9:27 'week'.
Dan 9:27 ... But in the middle of the week He shall
bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
And on the wing of abominations shall be
one who makes desolate, even until the
consummation, which is determined, is
poured out on the desolate.
All the above only refer to the period of spiritual destruction and
the famine of God's word.
When considering the Daniel 12:7 '3.5 times' (the 'appointed,
appointeds, and half'), one has to keep in mind that the four
end-time annual appointed days suggest the reference spans a
longer duration. The time from when the end-time witness begins
(from the Day of Trumpets), to the completion of the time of God's
wrath (midway through the Last Day).
The exclusion of the remainder of the Last Day indicates that the
subsequent edifying aspects of that day are not included. This would
include the saving of the 'great multitude' (those which come out of
the 'great tribulation', refer Rev 7:9-17).
The overall timing of the 3.5 appointeds is very much in keeping with
the context of Daniel 12:1-10. Being a time when 'Michael' shall stand
up (verse 1), a time of great witness (verse 3), a time of great trouble
(verse 1), a time of enlightenment of the wise (verse 3) and a time when
the power of the spiritually rebellious religious leaderships shall be
shattered (verse 7).
